Melissa graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2021. While residing in Western Maryland, Melissa served two years with the Americorps A Star Program. During that time, she worked with the Allegany County school systems and other local organizations to educate local youth in historic preservation, environmental conservation, and the importance of food security through agriculture. This experience has increased her depth of compassion and understanding of individuals in the community and beyond and influenced her decision to attend Edinboro University in the spring to obtain her Master of Social Work Degree. She aims to become a licensed clinical social worker focusing on childhood trauma. She has two dogs (Dude and Rodney) that love to adventure, and a kitten (Santos) who loves to cuddle. She also enjoys backpacking, camping, and all things agricultural.
